Hand-holding
As an editor I love the structure that deadlines provide in the work of editing; however, as a writer I have also experienced the angst that gets triggered by deadlines. This fear often translates into the kind of self-doubt that leads to paralysis and procrastination. That’s why at all levels of editorial service I am available to coach through those difficult periods when a writer’s self-critical tendencies are running in high gear. Sometimes you need the right combination of sensitive encouragement and robust butt-kicking to get back on track, to stop talking about writing and instead write. At the same time, a little cheerleading to remind you about why you are writing in the first place can be invaluable to keep you motivated so you can persevere.
